Wallingford – Funeral services for Melvina Kasa Steinmetz, 105, of Milford were held Friday, Oct. 18 at the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery in Wallingford.

Melvina was born on Nov. 2, 1896 in Wallingford to John and Anna (Bergerson) [Bergeson] Kasa. She received her education in the Wallingford Public School.

After traveling for several years, she returned to Iowa and was married to Leo Steinmetz in Laurens.

They made their home in Chippewa Falls, Wis. After his death she moved to Milford.

Melvina enjoyed the Milford Dinner Date and was an avid fisherman.

She died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at the Milford Nursing Center.

Melvina is survived by her daughter, Lola Bryan of Wahpeton and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, five brothers and four sisters.

Turner Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Milford was in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 19, 2002)
