Spirit Lake – Joint funeral services for Vernon F. [Floyd] Stall, 77, formerly of Gruver, and his daughter, Muriel Dreke, Sibley, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Spirit Lake, with Pastor James Quitno and Pastor Durwood Clauson officiating. Stall’s interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1989 at Valley Vue Care Center, Armstrong. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 25, 1911 at Spirit Lake, the son of Edward and Ida (Aanonson) Stall and moved with his family to a farm on the south side of Swan Lake in Emmet County. He received his education in Emmet County country schools, Gruver High School, and Waldorf Academy, Forest City. On June 27, 1931 he was united in marriage with Glenna Reed at Estherville. He farmed and was a construction carpenter; the couple retired and moved to Spirit Lake in 1959. He became a resident at Valley Vue in Armstrong in November 1988. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Spirit Lake.

He was survived by daughters: Mrs. Eugene (Muriel) Dreke, Sibley, who died Jan. 12, 1989 in Sibley; Mrs. Donald (Gladys) Mustard, Sr., Gruver; Helen Teig, South Sioux City, Neb. and Shirley Jones, Minneapolis; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife May 14, 1987; two sons; one grandson; parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 14, 1989)
