Mrs. Anna Soeffing Passed Away Saturdy
Was Sixty-Eight Years Old – Had Lived in Emmet County for Over Forty Years
Mrs. Anna Soeffing passed away suddenly at her home in Wallingford Saturday evening. Her death was caused by apoplexy and came as a great shock to her many friends in this county. Despite her old age she was enjoying good health up until the time she became ill Thursday evening. When she was taken ill, however, her old age and the weakened condition of her body soon brought about her death. Mrs. Anna Soeffing was born in Germany on July 24, 1857. Her early life was spent in her native land. While yet a young lady she was united in marriage with Otto Soeffing. Together they came to this country in the spring of 1885, coming directly to Emmet county and settling on a farm near Wallingford. A few years later they moved to Wallingford and have lived there ever since. Mr. Soeffing passed away in the fall of 1892. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Soeffing, four of whom survive their mother. They are: Mrs. J.B. Cook, Keener, Ark., Mrs. Anna Ellison, Estherville, Mrs. Mary Christopher and Albert Soeffing, of Wallingford. Mrs. Soeffing was a lady who made friends wherever she went. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and to do whatever she could for those who needed her. She was a faithful wife and a loving and devoted mother. Her family was always first in her thoughts and she sacrificed many things in order that her loved ones might have the best that she could give them. Funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon at the Adventist church in Wallingford, Rev. Hicks, of Nevada, officiating. The body will be laid to rest beside her husband and children in the Riverside Cemetery at Wallingford. The sympathy of many friends is extended the bereaved children and relatives in their hours of sorrow. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, September 30, 1925)

Her husband, Otto Soeffing, has been dead several years.
