Obituary of Herman Edward Sando
Herman Edward Sando, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Sando, was born in Estherville township, Emmet County, Iowa, on March 18, 1879. His death occurred in Minneapolis on Thursday, September 27, 1934. He was at the time of his demise, 55 years, 6 months and 9 days old.

His boyhood days and likewise his early manhood was lived in the Twelve Mile Lake township of Emmet county.

After having completed the rural school of his community, he went to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he pursued his normal training course, which qualified him as a teacher. He was engaged in this work for four years.

In 1906 Mr. Sando married Miss Anna Knutson of Petersburg, Minn. This union was blessed with the three children, Lucile, Silas, and Bernice.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Sando farmed for three years in the vicinity of Maple Hill, Iowa. Then the family moved to Jackson, Minn., where Mr. Sando was engaged in the real estate business for several years. From Jackson, Minn., Mr. Sando, with his family moved to Minneapolis where he continued with his real estate work. He continued in this business until his health began to fail, about 6 ½ years ago.

The funeral service was conducted last Sunday, September 30th, at 1 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran church with the Rev. Peder Nordsletten in charge. Rev. S. Strand spoke also using the Norwegian language. The choir of the church sang the two sons: “Is My Name Written There?” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” These two songs became very precious to Mr. Sando during his long illness. Interment was made in the cemetery close by the church.

Those who served as the pall-bearers were the following: Sam Gunderson, Albert Gunderson, James Nelson, E.E. Ellefson, Nels Mickelson and Lars Egertson.

Mr. Herman Sando leaves to mourn his department the following: His wife with the three children, a brother, Eric, and two sisters, Bertha and Randina, all of Minneapolis, and a sister, Mrs. G. Gilbert of Wallingford. His memory will be cherished by his many friends and business associates besides many other relatives. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 3, 1934)
