Mrs. Rolfson Was a Native of Denmark
Sophia Anne Rolfson, 78, resident of the Good Samaritan Home for the past 3 years, died at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville March 30. Death was caused by pneumonia and a stroke. She had been in poor health for the past several years.

Mrs. Rolfson was born Aug. 13, 1881, in Denmark, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andres Jensen, and came to America with her parents when she was 1 ½ years old.

In April of 1903, she and Edward Rolfson were married at her father’s farm home in Wallingford. After their marriage, she and her husband lived in the state of Washington and then homesteaded in North Dakota from 1905 to 1918, when they moved back to the Graettinger vicinity.

Mr. Rolfson died in June, 1944. Mrs. Rolfson lived in her Graettinger home until 3 ½ years ago, when she moved to the Good Samaritan Home at Estherville. She was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Christina) Norris of Graettinger; and four sons, Bert and Emmet Rolfson of Wallingford, Byron Rolfson of Graettinger and Elvin Rolfson of West Bend.

Also surviving are four brothers, Chris Jensen of Graettinger, Jim Jensen of George, Andrew Jensen of West Bend, and Arthur Jensen of Terril; and five sisters, Mrs. Oliver Osher and Mrs. Gilbert Osher of Graettinger, Mrs. Dora Refsell of Wallingford, Mrs. Amos Egeland of Wallingford and Mrs. Leon Olson of Terril.

Services were held Saturday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating. Martin Funeral Home of Graettinger had charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Gilford Osher, Leonard Osher, Roger Jensen, Myrl Olson, Richard Olson and Clifford Egeland, all nephews of Mrs. Rolfson. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Wallingford.
