Ralph W. Schacherer Dies at 66
Ralph William Schacherer, 66, died at 1:30 a.m. yesterday from a heart attack at his home in rural Wallingford

He was born Jan. 16, 1898 at Edgewood, son of William and Sophia Schacherer. He came to Emmet county in 1900 with his parents and received his education in Estherville schools.

He married Johannah Erpelding on Feb. 10, 1926, at St. Patrick’s church in Estherville.

Following their marriage they farmed near Ladysmith, Wis., for nine years and then returned to farm in the Wallingford area.

Mr. Schacherer was a member of St. Patrick’s church and Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Darlene) Lair, Mrs. Harold (Marjorie) Dalen, Mrs. Lewis (Marian) Peterson, Mrs. Dean (Thelma Jean) Brobst, and Mrs. John (Jane) Elsenbast, and one son, Jerry Schacherer.

Also surviving are his mother, 14 grandchildren and two brothers, LeRoy and Theodore Schacherer. All live in this area.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, who was a triplet sister of Thelma Jean and Jane, two grandchildren and his father.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. tonight and Tuesday at the Fuhrman Funeral home. Friends may call there after 3 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Lester Larsen, Chester Herke, Joe Brinkman, James Spencer, Urban Pluth and Lloyd Hoovel. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 25, 1964)
