Alfred Rost dies at 41; Rites Monday
Alfred Edwin Rost, 41, died at 6:45 p.m. yesterday at Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a lengthy illness. He had been hospitalized in Sioux Falls since Jan. 19.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church here, the Rev. James H. Duhigg officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Military services will be conducted at the graveside.
Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow evening until the time of services Monday morning. Rosary will be recited at the Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Rost was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Estherville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rost. He attended Estherville schools.
He was married to Mary Remer at Pine Falls, Wisc., in the summer of 1945. Since 1942 he was employed by the Rock Island Railroad as an engineer.
Mr. Rost served in World War II in the North African and European theatres. He was a member of the B. of L.F. and E. and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Paul 3 and Lon 7, his parents and one brother, Perl, all of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 31, 1961)
