Final Rites on Saturday
Funeral services for Eugene Thomas Millslagle, 63, a retired Rock Island Railway employee and former Estherville resident are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home, Rev. James Fangman officiating.Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
Mr. Millslagle died early Tuesday morning at Burlington, Colo., after suffering a heart attack. He had been in failing health for five years.
He was born Nov. 19, 1902, at Gifford, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Millslagle. Receiving his education in the Gifford schools, he was married Jan. 17, 1931, to Vivete [Vivette] Swale at Jackson, Minn.
They farmed near Tulare, S.D., and later moved to Kimball, Minn., where he was employed by the Soo Line Railway. He came to Estherville in 1929 and began working for the Rock Island in 1937.
After transferring by the railway to Atlantic in 1948, he was transferred o Burlington, Colo., in 1954. Poor health forced him to retire in 1957.
Survivors include his wife of Burlington, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Donnabelle Trybile of Cary, Ill., and Mrs. Barbara Davis of East Lake, Colo.; six grandchildren; one brother, Don, of Elk River, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Francis McKenzie of Anoka, Minn.
His parents, one son, and two brothers preceded him in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1966)
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marshall and family attended the funeral of Mrs. Marshall's brother-in-law, E. T. Millslagle of Burlington, Colo. The funeral was at Estherville and the Marshalls visited relatives of Mrs. Marshall while there. (Progress Review, La Porte City, IA, May 3, 1966)
