Spirit Lake – Services for Carl Feger, 91, of Spirit Lake will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, August 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake with Father Albert Grendler officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Estherville. He died Sunday, July 30 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.Legion of Mary Rosary, Parish Vigil services and visitation were held Tuesday, August 1 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
He was born on May 6, 1904 in New Berlin, IL, the son of Simon and Frances (Winkler) Feger. At a young age, he moved with his parents to the Spirit Lake area. He attended school at Emmet Consolidated School and graduated from Petersburg High School in Minnesota. He farmed for most of his life in the Estherville, Spirit Lake and Jackson, MN area. He also did carpentry work.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake.
He is survived by three nephews: James Van Cura of Beaverton, OR; Harold Feger of Minneapolis, MN; Ronald Feger of Estherville; two nieces, JoAn McCulley of Rohnert Park, CA; and Patricia Sundall of Estherville and several great and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 2, 1995)
