Mrs. Cooklin Dies at 79
Mrs. Otto (Elizabeth) Cooklin, 79, longtime resident of Superior died today at 2:15 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital, her death attributed to complications of advanced age. Mrs. Cooklin was admitted to the hospital Monday.

Born at Emmetsburg on Feb. 6, 1886, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Kelly. She received her education in the Emmetsburg schools.

On Nov. 22, 1915, Elizabeth Kelly was married to Otto Cooklin at Emmetsburg. The couple later moved to Superior, where Mr. Cooklin was night marshal for many years. His death occurred on Halloween night, 1960, when he suffered a heart attack. Mrs. Cooklin was also preceded in death by their only child, a son.

She is survived by a grandson and a granddaughter, also three sisters, Mrs. Florence Kahley, Phoenix, Ariz., Coletta McCullum, Dyer, Ind., and Mrs. Agnes Wilson. Chicago and four brothers, Joseph and Edward Kelly, both of Emmetsburg, William F. of Whittemore and Thomas J. of Fort Dodge.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cooklin will be Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

A rosary will be said Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home. Friends may call at Fuhrman’s all day Thursday and until time of the services on Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 9, 1954)
