Services for Mrs. Refsell Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Oscar [Josephine Peterson] Refsell, 67, 814 North Seventh street, will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at her home and at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran church.

Mrs. Refsell died at her home yesterday at 6 a.m. She had been ill with cancer for the past three years and was taken to the hospital a year ago where she remained for 3 ½ months. She had been bedridden at her home since that time.

Mrs. Refsell was born Dec. 2, 1887 at Wisner, Neb. She graduated from Wisner high school and attended the University of Nebraska for three years and the University of Minnesota. After college she taught and was dean of women at Jewell Lutheran academy at Jewell for eight years.

She married Oscar Refsell, April 29, 1919, at Wallingford, and had made her home in Estherville since that time. Mr. Refsell died in October, 1943.

She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church and had been very active in all types of church activities.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Hugo Lindholm and Eunice, both of Minneapolis; a granddaughter, Ann Jolene Lindholm, Minneapolis, and a sister-in-law, Emma Refsell, who had lived with her since the death of Mrs. Refsell’s husband.

Burial will be in Riverside cemetery at Wallingford. The Rev. L. G. Hinderaker will officiate at the services. Friends may call at the Sandin Funeral Home all day Tuesday and Tuesday evening. The casket will not be opened after Tuesday evening.

Pallbearers will be Ole Refsell, Martin Refsell, S.O. Lundy, Jacob Amdahl of Wallingford, Lloyd Refsell of Worthington, Minn., and Henry Schmidt of Spirit Lake. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 19, 1954)
