Lifetime Wallingford Farmer Dies
Oscar Peterson, 73, lifetime resident of the Wallingford community, died suddenly at his home in Wallingford at 6:10 p.m. yesterday, after suffering a heart attack.

Mr. Peterson was born September 23, 1886, on his father’s farm east of Wallingford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Peterson. He received his education in country schools in the Wallingford-High Lake area. Her farmed on his father’s farm east of Wallingford and was married there on March 5, 1913, to Bertha Vidme [Widme].

Mr. Peterson was born, reared, married and lived on the same farm east of Wallingford all his life, and had moved to a house in Wallingford only five days prior to his death. He had completed his 52nd year of threshing in the Wallingford community last year.

He was a lifetime member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church, former president of the Wallingford creamery board for many years, former member of the board of directors of the Wallingford elevator, former secretary of the Wallingford creamery board for many years, as well as a member of the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha; two sons, Donald Peterson and Nordein Peterson, both of Wallingford; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Carl Peterson of rural Estherville and Asher Peterson of Wallingford and one sister, Miss Rocelia Peterson, of the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating. Friends may call at the Sandin Fuhrman Funeral Home from Saturday until 10 a.m. Monday, at which time the body will be taken to the Wallingford Lutheran Church to lie in state until time of services. Burial will be at the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 4, 1960)
