Wallingford – Mrs. Bertha Peterson, 97, of Wallingford, died Saturday [April 30, 1988] at Good Samaritan Center. Services for her will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Anderson.Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be at Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Peterson was born in Flam Sogn, Norway, the daughter of Knut and Guri Widme May 29, 1890. She received her education in Norway and came to the United States at the age of 19.
She was married to Oscar Peterson March 5, 1913, at Wallingford where the couple began farming. Shemoved into Wallingford in 1960, the year her husband died, and had been a resident of Good Samaritan Center since 1980.
She had been a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church and its Ruth Circle.
Surviving are two sons: Nordein Peterson of Wallingford and Donald Peterson of Mount Vernon, Mo. Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter (Selma Peterson), two grandsons (David and Nels), and several brothers and sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 2, 1988)
