J. Omundson Final Rites Wednesday
Joseph Omundson, 84, longtime member of the Graettinger, Wallingford and Estherville areas, died Monday [September 2, 1968] at 7:55 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital. His death was attributed to infirmities of advanced age. Mr. Omundson had been hospitalized for 10 days.Born March 15, 1884, at Story City, he was the son of Lars and Josephine Romsdahl Omundson. He received his education in Story City.
Nov. 27, 1907, Joseph Omundson was married at Graettinger to Matilda Christensen and they continued to live in the Graettinger and Wallingford areas until his retirement, when they moved to Estherville.
Mr. Omundson is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Albertine Sunde of Beresford, S.D., Mrs. Elmer (Lorinda) Burkart of Estherville, Mrs. Leonard (Josephine) Cole of Clarksville, Tenn., Mrs. Otto (Andriena) Herrinsum, Sr., and Mrs. Lyle (Rebecca) Peterson, both of Zimmerman, Minn.; three sons, James and Oscar of Estherville, Simon of Lexington, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Olson of Story City and Mrs. Ed Anderson of Graettinger; 30 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
Funeral services are to be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church. A family service will be held at the Reese-Henry Chapel preceding the services. Rev. Stephen Engelstad will officiate and burial will be in the Wallingford Cemetery.
