Funeral services for Mrs. O.D. Olson were held from the Olson home and from the Wallingford Lutheran church on Monday afternoon, June 7, with Pastor L. Hinderaker officiating. Rev. G.O. Paulsrud of Randall, a relative of the family, spoke on behalf of the Olson family. Interment was made in the Wallingford cemetery.

Serena Larson Olson was born July 18, 1876, in Stavanger, Norway, and came to Marshall, Minn., in 1893. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway, and has been a faithful member of the Lutheran church her entire life. She passed away at the age of 66 years on June 3, 1943, at St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital in Mason City.

On May 9, 1899, she was united in marriage to Osmond D. Olson at Roland, Iowa. She has spent most of her life in Iowa, moving to Wallingford in 1914, where she has since resided.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, one son, Jeffrey of Wallingford, and three daughters, Ihlene Olson 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corps in Danville, Ky., Esther Olson at Wheaton, Ill., and Mrs. Ruth Brownstone of Clear Lake. Also her father, Elnar Larson, three brothers and one sister all in Norway. Also one brother, Peter Larson of Philadelphia, Pa., and one sister, Bertha Larson of Santa Barbara, Calif., four grandchildren, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Olson won for herself many friends in and around Wallingford, and her sudden death came as a shock to many homes. She will be remembered as a kind and loving relative and friend.

Mrs. Julia Sigmond of this place, Rev. and Mrs. G.O. Paulsrud of Randall, and Mr. and Mrs. Josiah G. Olson and daughter of Farmington, Minn., were in attendance at the funeral. (Roland Record, Roland, IA, June 24, 1943)
