Many were present at the funeral to bid Mr. Olson their last farewell. His lingering illness and his final departure was watched with much sympathy and interest by his wide circle of friends. In loving remembrance of him, several gifts, both money and flowers were given.

In November of 1916, he moved to Emmet County. On December 11th, 1919, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Gilbertson. They farmed two and one-half miles north of Dolliver for five years when his health failed him.

“His toil is past, his work is done
And he is fully blest
He fought the fight, the victory worn,
And entered into rest. The pall-bearers were: Christie Anderson, Fred Wolden, Johnnie Johnson, A.K. Iverson, Lee Miller and Eddie Evans.
Even though Mr. Olson died in the very prime of life, he was so satisfied to die. He longed to go home to God because through his illness he had found him. Hard as it was to bid his sorrowing wife and daughter Good-bye, he expressed repeatedly that they, as a family, would soon have a re-union again in the Heavenly home with Jesus. He was confident that the good and gracious God would in some way take care of them until that day of re-union. Mr. Olson was very thankful too, to his brother and sisters with their respective families for what they had done for him during his long sickness. And to his neighbors, who in their different ways assisted and helped them, he always felt very grateful.
Blessed be his memory! (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 13, 1932)
