Wallingford – Funeral services for Emma B. Nelson, 83, Wallingford, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with burial at the Riverside Cemetery at Wallingford. Mrs. Nelson died Feb. 1 in West Des Moines.

Mrs. Nelson was born March 2, 1892 [per cemetery records, 1891] to Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Egertson in Wallingford and received part of her education in Wallingford. She graduated from Jewell High School and taught school several years before she was married to John A. Nelson April 28, 1912 at Wallingford.

Survivors include two sons, Norton and Clair, Whittier, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Schwartz, West Des Moines; Mrs. Eleanor Thomas, Redondo Beach, Calif.; and Mrs. Harriet Phillips, Torrence, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Helene Husby and Gunda Egertson, both of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. She was preceded n death by her parents and her husband n 1956.

Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements where friends may call until Tuesday morning when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 2, 1976)
