Nels Mickelson, 73, Dies; Rites To Be Saturday
Nels Mickelson, 73, died at 6 a.m. today at his home in Wallingford after an illness that had extended over the past four years. He had lived in Wallingford since March of 1930 when he moved from a farm in Twelve Mile Lake township.Born on Jan. 17, 1874, in Norway, Mickelson migrated to this country with his parents in 1885, moving directly to the Wallingford community. On July 6, 1898, he was married to Anna Elefson. The couple moved to a farm west of Wallingford where they lived until 17 years ago.
Mr. Mickelson was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Albert Wolden of Wallingford; two sons, Melvin of Fairmont and Norman of Wallingford; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Elefson of Wallingford and Mrs. John Miller of Gary, Ind., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 in the home and at 2 p.m. in the Wallingford Lutheran church. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 24, 1947)
