Wallingford – Memorial services for former Estherville/Wallingford area resident, Gerald “Jerry” Lewis, 77, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Joyce-Alesch Funeral Home in Graettinger. Burial will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery, Wallingford. He died on April 15, 2005, in Rockport, Texas.The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Joyce-Alesh Funeral Home in Graettinger. Joyce-Alesch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gerald “Jerry” Lewis, the son of Harry and Lois (Dresback) Lewis, was born April 27, 1927, in Kendrick Township, Greene County, Iowa.
On November, 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mildred (Anderson) Zeiman in Estherville. After their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville and Wallingford. Jerry was employed at John Morrell in Estherville for thirty-three years. Following their retirement the couple enjoyed spending winters in Texas and Florida. For hobbies Jerry enjoyed playing golf, singing, playing the harmonica and guitar, and playing cards with his grandchildren.
Jerry was a member of the Estherville VFW Post 3388 and American Legion for over 35 years.
Jerry is survived by one son Gene Lewis and his wife Jane of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter-in-law Lori Lewis of Spirit Lake; six grandchildren: Jen Reiner; Jamie Lewis, wife Whitney; Keith Lewis, wife Heather, great-granddaughter, Madelyn; Dan Lewis, wife Lori, great-granddaughter, Katelyn, great-grandson, Bennett; Todd Lewis; Ted Lewis; two sisters, Grace Stigman, Estherville, and Ada Fern Herke, Emmetsburg; one brother, Harold Lewis, Kalkaska, Mich.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Mildred: son Michael; great-grandson, Carter and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 26, 2005)
