Joseph Larson Rites Tuesday
Joseph Larson, 86, died Friday, Jan. 21, 1972, at Balmer Nursing Home from the infirmities of old age. Larson had been a resident of the nursing home since December.Larson was born Feb. 25, 1885, on a farm near Cumberland to Mr. and Mrs. Lars Larson. He was educated in the Cass county schools.
In March, 1915, he was married to Mabel Thompson at Estherville. Larson farmed most of his life in Estherville and Fargo, N.D., areas. He retired in 1953.
He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Leroy Larson, Armstrong; and one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Myrtle) George, Dearborn, Mich.; six grandchildren and one sister, Lillian Larson of Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Wallingford.
Visitation will be at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Marlin Langner, Jerry Larson, Robert Larson, Harold Stankey, Arnt Espeset, Jr. and Larry Larson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 24, 1972)
