Mrs. Oliver Larson Passed Away Monday
Had Been Ill for Several Months – Funeral Will Be Held Thursday Afternoon

The community was deeply grieved Monday when it was learned that Mrs. Oliver Larson had passed away after an extended illness. Although she had been practically helpless and confined to her bed for several weeks the family was given encouragement and it was thought that she would soon recover. Her death comes as a great shock to her many friends in this community.

Mrs. Larson moved with her husband and daughters to this city a few years ago from Wallingford where they had resided for several years. They purchased a home on east Walnut street and are still living there. She was a woman who was liked by everyone who knew her and her friends were many. Always ready and willing to help wherever her services were needed she won a place in the hearts of everyone. Her home was her shrine and all her efforts were directed towards its betterment. She worked hard and sacrificed many pleasures in order that her family might have the best there was. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Misses Mildred and Opal Larson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Larson home, 920 east Walnut street, Rev. T. Hansen and Rev. L.A. Mathre officiating. Interment will be made in the Wallingford cemetery.

The sympathy of the entire community is extended the bereaved husband and daughters during their hours of sorrow and grief over the departure of their dearest friend and counselor. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, December 1, 1926)

Obituary Mrs. Inga Larson
Mrs. Inga Annette Larson, maiden name Fossum, was born Feb. 27th, 1881 at Wallingford, Iowa. Was baptized the 15th day of April 1881. Was joined in holy wedlock to Oliver Larson the 13th day of April 1902 by Rev. S. Strand, then pastor for the Wallingford Lutheran congregation. This union was blessed with three children one of whom died in infancy.

The first years after marriage Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Larson lived on the home farm in High Lake township. The following year 1903 they moved to the farm now owned by Lewis S. Berge in High Lake township. After one year’s stay on this farm they moved to the farm home in Twelve mile Lake township near Wallingford. This farm they bought after a few years and made their home until 1920 when they moved to Estherville where they bought a nice home and have lived since, but have continued to remain as members of the Wallingford Lutheran congregation.

Mrs. Inga Larson had been suffering with a weak heart for some years. The last summer she was taken seriously ill, but recovered somewhat and stayed at her home until Nov. 16th when she again was taken seriously ill and immediately was brought to the Coleman Hospital. Doctors tried all they could to prolong her life but all in vain. On Monday morning, November 29th at 7:00 o’clock she passed to the beyond. She was at the time of her death 45 years and nine months old.

Those to mourn the loss of a dear wife, mother and sister are husband Oliver Larson and daughters Opal Violet and Mildred Almira; sisters Mrs. Emma Peterson of Halfa, Iowa and Miss Alma Fossum, Minneapolis and Alfred Fossum of Yale, Wash., and Arthur Fossum of Estherville, Iowa. Her little infant daughter Margaret Anna, passed to the beyond before her. Also her father, mother, and sister Mathilda who died as a young girl and brother, Otto who died one years old, and brother Dr. Lewis O. Fossum, missionary to Kurdistan who died giving his life for the salvation of the souls of the Kurds and is laid to rest at Erivan, Armenia.

Funeral services were held at the home in Estherville. Pastor T. Hansen assisted by Pastor L.A. Mathre conducted the funeral services. Pall bearers, O.O. Anderson, L.B. Nelson, E.J. Egerson, Oscar Peterson, Sam Gunderson and Nels Mickelson. A great host of relatives, friends and neighbors gathered to pay the last respects to Mrs. Oliver Larson. The casket was laden with floral wreaths and bouquets given by relatives and friends as a sign of love and esteem. Fred Albertson sang two beautiful solos, “Face to Face” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” These two songs Mrs. Larson loved to hear and sing while she lived, therefore they were so much more impressive when sung at her funeral. From the Estherville home she was taken to the Wallingford Lutheran cemetery where she was laid to rest. At the grave a quartette sang “Jesus Savior Pilot Me.” The burial ceremony was conducted by Rev. T. Hansen.

Mrs. Larson will be missed greatly by her dear ones, husband, daughters, sisters and brothers, and friends, but what is their loss and sorrow will be her gain and happiness. May God bless and comfort the sorrowing family for Jesus sake. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 8, 1926)
