Killed
Mr. Sondo [Sando] was Thrown From a Wagon and Instantly Killed Wednesday
It is with the deepest feeling of sympathy for the bereaved ones that our duty calls us to chronicle the death of Mr. Ole E. Sondo [Sando] aged 65 years, who left town last Wednesday in a lumber wagon, accompanied by Hogen Olson. When they neared the Clark bridge, the horses became unmanageable and ran away, throwing the occupants of the wagon out, Mr. Sondo striking on his face and head, rendering him unconscious. There he lay for some time, his companion going on, until he was picked up by Mr. Seim, who tenderly conveyed him to his home, where the last spark of life went out at 2 o’clock the same night [November 8, 1882].

The deceased leaves a wife and an unmarried daughter besides several sons and daughters who are married and reside in this county to mourn his untimely death.

The remains will be interred at the Peterson cemetery to-morrow.

Thus ends the life of an early pioneer. (National Broad-Axe, Estherville, IA , November 10, 1882)
