Final Rites of Saturday
Family services for Magdalene Gunderson, 87, who died at the Good Samaritan Home at 1:15 yesterday, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. followed by public services at 2 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran church, Rev. Robert Glaser officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Wallingford.

Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home Friday after 9 a.m. and until 10 a.m. Saturday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. The casket will not be opened following the services.

Miss Gunderson, who was an Emmet county teacher for 54 years, was born July 6, 1879, on a farm west of Wallingford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gunderson.

She attended rural Wallingford schools and Jewell Lutheran College at Jewell.

She started teaching in rural schools in 1897 and taught until her retirement in 1951.

Miss Gunderson lived in Wallingford all her life, until she moved to Good Samaritan Home in Estherville in 1962.

She was a Sunday School teacher and pianist and organist at the Wallingford Lutheran Church, where she had been a life-long member. She was also active in the Lutheran Daughters of the Reformation.

Miss Gunderson is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fred (Ida) Wolden of Wallingford, and 15 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 27, 1966)
