Mr. O.O [C.O.] Fossum received word from Cherokee Saturday [May 18, 1918] evening that his wife had just passed away. She was shipped here from burial. Funeral was held from the Oliver Larson home Tuesday afternoon. Interment made in the Riverside cemetery. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, May 23, 1918)

The funeral services of Mrs. C.O. Fossum were held last Tuesday afternoon from the home of Oliver Larson. She died at the hospital at Cherokee. Rev. Hanson officiated and interment was made at the Riverside cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 29, 1918)
