C.O. Fossum Dies; Was Old Settler
Had Been a Resident of Emmet County for Over Fifty YearsC.O. Fossum, one of the old settlers of this county, passed away Friday, January 2, at his home at Wallingford, the funeral being held at the Riverside church at that place last Monday. Mr. Fossum was born Uskog, Norway, in 1839. From Norway he came to this country and first settled in Wisconsin, staying there but a short time. He was one of the first settlers in Kossuth county. In 1869 he came to Emmet county and has been a resident of this county since that time. His wife died in 1918. Seven children were left to mourn his death, Oscar Fossum, of Minneapolis; Alfred, of Yale, Washington, Rev. L.O. Fossum, of Sousbaulak, Persia; Alma Fossum, of Sousboulak, Persia; Mrs. H.H. Peterson, of Halfa, and Arthur Fossum of Estherville. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, January 7, 1920)
