Ole Egeland
Ole Anfin Egeland, son of Anfin and Johanna Egeland, was born Nov. 25, 1870, at Fjellbert, Prestejel, Sunnhordland, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received his education in the school there.

June 16, 1900, he was united in marriage to Helena Jensen and in 1902 they came to the United States and began farming in the Wallingford community. In 1929 they moved to Wallingford. Shortly after moving to town he suffered a severe heart attack but recovered. The last summer he became ill and was bedfast for three months and died Dec. 5 at the age of 76 years and ten days.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, also one daughter, Gladys, who passed away at the age of three years.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and two o’clock at the church with the Rev. C.B. Gunderson officiating. Mrs. Leroy Gunderson and Allan Hersleff sang a duet and Mrs. C.I. Skattebo, Mrs. I.G. Ness, Mrs. Archer Myhre and Mrs. Bert Twito sang a Norwegian hymn. Burial was made in the Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were N.O. Osher, C.I. Skattebo, Oscar Peterson, L.B. Nelson, Carl Thorson and Chester Anderson.

Survivors are his widow, three son, Jens of Estherville, Helmar of Story City and Norman of Wallingford; two daughters, Mrs. Martin Refsell, Kennewick, Wash., and Mrs. Edward Christian of Estherville. Twenty-six grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 16, 1946)
