Wallingford – Services for Lewis G. [Gayhart] Sevatson, 93, will be held Friday, Nov. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Virgil Anderson of the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery [Church] officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. He died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1991.Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
He was born January 10, 1898 in Emmet County, the son of Sevat and Gunil (Ellefson) Sevatson and attended rural Emmet County schools. On Aug. 10, 1921 he married Millie Duhn at Graettinger. He lived most of his life in Wallingford. He was employed by Kaiser Shipyard in Richmond, Calif. during the war period from 1942-46. He was employed by Emmet County as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He has been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since August of 1988. He was a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters: Elaine Reynolds, Las Vegas, Nev. and Francine Jackson, Long Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren: Jerry Reynolds, Bloomington, Ill.; Tom Reynolds, Las Vegas; Cynthia Eyster, LaCanada, Calif.; Cathy Burrell, Boulder, Colo. and Jill Seidel, Bridgewater, N.J. and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six sisters, three brothers and one half-sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 20, 1991)
