Wallingford – Mrs. Selmer (Sarah Betina) Dybdahl, 88, Wallingford, died Saturday [September 8, 1979] night at Palo Alto County Hospital.

Services for Mrs. Dybdahl will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Wallingford.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, until noon Tuesday and at the church prior to services.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Nelson, she was born June 30, 1891, in Jack Creek Township of Emmet County. She received her education in rural schools and attended Waldorf College, Forest City.

She was married to Selmer Dybdahl on Nov. 29, 1922, at Wallingford and the couple made their home in Wallingford until Mr. Dybdahl’s death in 1970. She then spent 4 ½ years with her son in Willis, Mich., and has been a resident of the Lakeside Nursing Home, Emmetsburg, the past five years. She was also a life member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Dybdahl is survived by one son, Gerald Dybdahl, Willis, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. John (Lorraine) Soyland, San Dimas, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, James Nelson, Wallingford; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Refsell, Minneapolis, Minn., and Elma Nelson, Emmetsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 10, 1979)
