Wallingford Farmer Dies of Heart Attack

Norman Anderson, 47, well-known farmer of the Wallingford area, died unexpectedly this morning at his home near Wallingford after suffering a sudden heart attack.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, the former LaVerna Olson, three boys, Loren, and twins, Orvis and Norris; a daughter, Judith Ann; and his mother, Mrs. O.J. (Emma) Anderson of Wallingford.

Anderson Rites to Be Saturday
Norman Anderson, 47, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 9:00 a.m. yesterday in his home east of Wallingford. He became ill while working on his farm yesterday morning.

Norman was born Jan. 11, 1916 in Wallingford, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. O.J. Anderson. He was a lifetime resident of Wallingford where he received his elementary education in the Wallingford school, later graduating from Estherville High School in 1932.

On April 12, 1941, Mr. Anderson was married to La Verna Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Olson, Graettinger. They were married in the Lutheran church in Armstrong.

A World War II Veteran, he was in the army four years and served in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. Prior to this, he did trucking. After returning to civil life he began farming and has been engaged in farming until his death. He was a life-long member of the Wallingford Lutheran church, served on the Wallingford school board three years and on the town council one year.

He is survived by his widow, three sons, Loren, 16; twins, Orvis and Norris, 11; and one daughter, Judith Ann, 14. His mother, Mrs. Emma [Sevatson] Anderson of Wallingford, also survives him. He was preceded in death by his father, O.J. Anderson, who died a number of years ago.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday with a military service at the Wallingford Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Wallingford Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to lie in state at the church until time of service. The casket will not be opened after the service. Neighbors Pick Corn, Plow Fields
Friends and neighbors of the Norman Anderson family gathered yesterday to pick corn and plow fields on the Anderson farm.

Norman Anderson died Wednesday of a heart attack.

Fifty men brought machinery to handle the work, while Torreson D-X Serivice and Wallingford Cooperative Elevator of Wallingford donated gasoline for the tractors.
