Knute Aanonson, a highly respected farmer living on the south shore of Swan Lake in Swan Lake township, was instantly killed by a bolt of lightning that struck a barn on his place last Friday afternoon about 4 o’clock. Mr. Aanonson and two sons were working on a shed near the barn when the storm came up and when it commenced to rain the boys went to the hose and Mr. Aanonson went into the barn saying that he would sit there for a while and rest until it quit raining. The boys and Mrs. Aanonson saw a flash of lightning strike the barn and rushed out and found Mr. Aanonson dead. He was found in a sitting position, with a mark across one shoulder and a shoe was torn from one foot.Mr. Aanonson was about sixty years of age and highly respected by all who knew him. He had lived in Emmet county for a good many years and his sudden death is a great shock to his many friends.
