Services for LaVonne (Bonnie) Shirley Poyzer, 57, Estherville were 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, at the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville. Dr. John Besore III officiated. She did Tuesday, June 6 at her home.

Mrs. Poyzer was born Oct. 8, 1931 at LuVerne to Frank and Blanch (Patterson) Shipley. She graduated from Maple Hill High School and attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City.

She married Donald L. Poyzer Jan. 28, 1951 at Armstrong and the couple lived in the Wallingford area until moving to Estherville in 1988. She was employed as a DHIA Supervisor and was active in the Emmet County Farm Bureau and Holy Family Hospice.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, served as a deacon and taught Sunday school.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, Estherville; one son, Jay and his wife, Evelyn, Wallingford; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Valerie) Boicourt, Jr., Estherville and Mrs. John (Joy) Winebrinner, Spirit Lake; six grandchildren; four brothers: Clarence Shipley, Everett, Wash., Virgil Shipley, Rapid City, S.D., Orville Shipley, Spirit Lake and Roland Shipley, Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Chester (Mary) Smith, Mason City and Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Henderson, Spirit Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.

Burial was in the East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville and Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, June 15, 1989)
