Estherville – Services for Leonard Nels Petersen, 73, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Michael Kroona officiating. Interment will be in East Side Memorial Cemetery. He died Monday, September 19, 1988 at his home.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Petersen was born July 4, 1915 at Bode, the son of Warren and Sena (Nielsen) Petersen, and moved with his parents to Estherville in 1916. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1935. May 17, 1958 he was united in marriage with Eunice Anderson at her parents’ home. Following marriage the couple lived and farmed near Estherville. He retired from farming in 1982. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and had served as a Deacon and Usher.

Survivors include his wife Eunice; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Hartman, Dunnell, Minn. and Mrs. Jim (Alta) Hartman, Estherville.
