ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Betty Lou Croner, 72, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Grand View Baptist Church in Estherville, with Pastor Jorgenson officiating. Interment will be at the East Side Memorial Cemetery. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 23, 2012, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

She was born April 18, 1939, in Estherville to Elijah Wesley and Bonnie Evelyn (Wolford) Jones (formerly of Louisville, Ky.). She was united in marriage to John "Johnny" F. Croner on July 12, 1958, at the Union Baptist Church in Estherville, where they raised three lovely daughters.

Betty grew up on a farm north of Estherville and received her education at Lincoln Central School in Gruver. She served as Senior Class President, was homecoming queen and was on the varsity basketball team.

Betty was a kind-hearted, loving, and fun person. Her love of the Lord was extremely important to her, and she instilled this belief to her family and friends (her "Butchies"). Her beautiful handwriting complemented the wonderful stories she wrote. She enjoyed singing in church, sewing, baking and bird watching. She worked for many years in the banking industry, and colleagues, as well as her customers (and their pets), became part of her extended family.

She is survived by two daughters: Lisa Liane Baunach (Michael) of Louisville, Ky. and Amy Elizabeth Kuapahi (Leialoha) of Oak Harbor, Wash.; five grandchildren: Michael (Molly) and Nathaniel Brown of Faribault, Minn. Nicole Brown of Louisville, Ky., John Baunach of Nashville, Tenn. and Keoni Kuapahi of Dover, Del.; one brother, Kenneth Jones (Shirley); one sister, Barbara McKean; a brother-in-law, Howard Croner; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ellis, and many wonderful nephews and nieces.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her loving, devoted, and "hilarious" husband of over 40 years, John Francis Croner; her daughter, Tamra Lynne Brown; sisters Carol Osher, Virginia "Ginny" Kirchner and Regina Jones; brothers-in-law William Ellis, Ralph Croner, Lowell McKean and Everett Osher; sisters-in-law Emogene Croner and Gertrude Croner and niece Twila Croner.
