James Allen Butler, Jr.
Estherville – Funeral services for James Allen Butler, Jr., 21, of Des Moines will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 10 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. He died Wednesday, April 7 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Henry-Olson-Furhman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born October 7, 1977 in Carroll, the son of James Allen Butler, Sr.

He was a 1996 graduate of Estherville High School and then attended Iowa Lakes Community College, graduating with a degree in Hotel/Motel Management.

He was engaged to Jodi Duhn of Emmetsburg.

He enjoyed cooking and had worked as a cook at the Estherville Country Club and Pete’s of Okoboji.

He was presently employed as a chef at the Marriott Hotel in Des Moines where he had received the Associate of the Month award two times in recognition as an outstanding employee. He also enjoyed car racing and has driven stock cars at the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn.

He is survived by his parents, James and Karen Butler of Estherville; his fiancée, Jody Duhn of Emmetsburg, his sisters, Marni [?] Morabito and husband David of New York City and Megan Butler of Lake View, grandparents, Lyle and Margaret Klinger of Estherville and George and Dixie Crouse of Lake View.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Nancy Butler. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 9, 1999)
