Mrs. Darland Died Thursday [December 11, 1947] at Seattle
Mrs. Maude Dayton and Mrs. Jessie Seevers received word last Thursday of the death of their sister, Mrs. Harry Darland, 67, of Seattle, Washington. Death came suddenly and unexpectedly. Mrs. Darland, who makes her home with her daughter in Selanis [Salinas], California, was to spend the holidays with her son in Seattle.

The Darlands, some years back, were well known here. Mrs. Darland was Minnie Hudson, the daughter of a pioneer family of this city. Mr. Darland was the editor of the Palo Alto Reporter at Emmetsburg for several years.

She is survived by two sons, Charles in the service in Hawaii and John in Seattle, and one daughter, Mrs. Jack Cameron of Selanis, California; four sisters and three brothers and six grandchildren.

The remains will be cremated and sent to Emmetsburg to be buried in the cemetery there. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 18, 1947)
