Former Local Man Dies in Colorado Springs
Harry C. Darland, 70, former Estherville resident and brother-in-law of Mrs. Maude Dayton, died Saturday at Colorado Springs, Colo., after a long illness with cancer. Mr. Darland was living at the home of a sister.

About 40 years ago Mr. Darland worked in Estherville as a printer for the Emmet county Republican and followed the trade most of his life as an employee of others and as the editor of his own papers. He had for many years before his death resided in North Dakota.

Surviving are his wife [Minnie Lula Adeline Hudson] and three children, Charles in army service in California, John of Sioux City and a daughter Mrs. Jack Cameron of Slayton, Minn.

Funeral services were held yesterday at Colorado Springs. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 13, 1941)
