Estherville Woman is Found Dead In Emmetsburg Motel
Kathleen Morley, 52, was discovered at the Suburban Motel in Emmetsburg Sunday. Investigation Continues
Emmetsburg – The Emmetsburg Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting a joint investigation into an unattended death of an Estherville woman.
On Sunday, July 14 at approximately 12:25 p.m. Kathleen Yvonne Morely, 52, of Estherville was discovered dead in her motel room at the Suburban Motel in Emmetsburg.

An autopsy was scheduled through the State Medical Examiners Office in Des Moines and took place during the morning hours of Monday, July 15.

At this time there appears to be no evidence of foul play, however the investigation will continue awaiting the results of the autopsy. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 2002)

Estherville – Funeral services for Kathleen “Kate” Morley, 52, of Estherville will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment will be held at Memorial park Cemetery in Sioux City. She died on Saturday, July 13, 2002 in Emmetsburg.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Kate was born on Nov. 9, 1949 in Hasting, Neb. , the daughter of Benjamin W. and Yvonne (Swain) Haigh. Kate graduated from Estherville High School. After graduation she attended the University of Iowa.

Kate was employed at Washington National Bank in Chicago, Illinois during the 1980’s. Later she was employed at Emmet County State Bank in Estherville.

On May 10, 1994 Kate was married to Donald Morley in Nevada. Kate was employed at Forest Ridge, the Estherville Daily News and most recently at ECHO Plus in Estherville. She also worked at CSI in Portland, Ore.

Working with mentally and challenged people was a great source of pleasure for Kate. She enjoyed dogs and collecting frogs.

Kate is survived by her husband, Don of Estherville; her father and step-mother Ben and Martha Haigh of Estherville; one brother, Benjamin W. Haigh and his wife, Rhonda of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Sherri L. DeKok and her husband, Ron of LeMars; step-daughter, Andrea Morley of Sioux City; and three nephews and one niece.

She has been preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 2002)
