ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Vern Barlow, 84, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Vern Eugene Barlow, the son of Milton and Hazel (Bliss) Barlow, was born March 19, 1927, in Wallingford.

April 26, 1947 he was united in marriage to Anita Swalve in Jackson, Minn.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Estherville, American Legion and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3388.

Left to cherish Vern's memory are his wife, Anita, of Estherville; children, Michael Barlow and his wife, Marjean, of Minnetonka, Minn. and Catherine Miller and her husband, Brian, of Estherville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Lind of Estherville, Helen Ellingson of Edina, Minn. and Bonnie Montgomery and her husband, John, of Springfield, Mo.
