Estherville – Services for Edla Elvira Woodyard, 86, will be held Sunday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Burial will follow at the East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Family and friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home Saturday from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. She died Thursday, Dec. 28 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.

Edla Elvira Woodyard was born June 23, 1903 in Slayton, Minnesota to Peter and Christina Mork. She received her education in Slayton, Minn. She moved to Estherville as a young woman where she worked as a housekeeper for several years before she was married. On July 27, 1927, she was married to Lloyd Woodyard at the Methodist Parsonage in Estherville. After their marriage, they farmed six miles south of Estherville for a number of years. In the early 1950’s they moved into Estherville. She has resided at Rosewood manor Care Center since October of 1983. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time.

Survivors include one brother-in-law Glenn Woodyard and his wife, Josephine of Wallingford; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Marjorie Woodyard of Estherville and Mrs. Mabel Mork of Lamberton, Minn.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters and husband who died August 4, 1986. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 30, 1989)
