Estherville – Funeral services for Katheryn Van Horn, 89, of Estherville will be held at 1:30 p.m. on today, Oct. 13 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Fri. Oct. 10 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She was born on March 5, 1908, in Sac City, the daughter of John and Anna (Norberg) Norrell. She received her education in the Sac City and Albert City, Iowa schools. On June 26, 1929, she was united in marriage to William J. Van Horn in Marathon. The couple moved to Estherville following their marriage.

She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Poulos of Estherville; Laura Preston of Melbourne; sons, Russell Van Horn of Omaha, Neb.; Joe Van Horn of N.M.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1978; one son; her parents; three brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 13, 1997)
