Archie Tenner Sunde, the son of Thor and Emma (Valen) Sunde, was born February 8, 1926, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville at the age of 83.

He received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School. Archie served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre. After his honorable discharge from military service he returned to the Estherville area.

On September 19, 1948, Archie was united in marriage to Lois Natterstad at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver, Iowa. The couple made their home in the rural Estherville area where they raised their family and farmed. In his leisure time Archie enjoyed following local sporting events.

He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and Estherville VFW Post 3388.

Grateful for having shared Archie's life are his wife, Lois of Estherville; his three children, Linda Rorvik and her husband, Lyle of Wausa, Nebraska; Phyllis Jones and her husband, Jack of Milford, Iowa; Dick Sunde and his wife, Jackie of Grimes, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Archie in death were his parents and two sisters, Margaret Quam and Evelyn Johnson.
