Estherville – Services for Ethel K. Stick, 74, of rural Estherville, will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, North 6th street, Estherville, with the Rev. Glenn S. Bohmer officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Friday, April 10, 1992, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Monday.
She was born October 11, 1917 at Brighton, the daughter of Clarence and Della (Allan) Kautz and was a graduate of Sioux City East High School in 1935. She attended Wayne State College and graduated from Mankato State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and English. She taught school in Otho and rural Martin County, Minn. schools. On Nov. 7, 1943 she was united in marriage with Earl Stick at Estherville. During World War Two, she moved to Texas with her husband, and taught school in Woodbine after returning. The couple farmed north of Estherville and she later taught in Milford and Estherville School Districts. From 1970 until retiring in 1972 she taught school in Joliet, Ill. She has lived on the farm north of Estherville since then. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild.
Survivors include her husband; one son, William, Palisade, Colo.; two daughters: Mrs. James (Katherine) Puls, Park Ridge, Ill. and Mrs. Robert (Mary) VanGinkel, Inwood; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Watkins, Janesville, Wis. and Carol Conlin, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Edgar Kautz, Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 13, 1992)
