Estherville – Services for Gertrude [Frances] Snyder, 93, of Estherville will be held Saturday, November 5 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died Wednesday, November 2 at Good Samaritan Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.

She was born February 28, 1901 in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Fred and Margaretha (Gasser) Wendt and received her education in Madison schools. She married Ralph Snyder on June 5, 1922 in Rockford, Ill. The couple lived in Manley and Atlantic where Ralph worked as a lineman for Rock Island Railroad. The couple moved to Estherville in October of 1946.

She was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Eastern Star and White Shrine.

Survivors include one son, Van Snyder of Augusta, Kan.; one daughter Mrs. Verle (Dorothy) Pierce of Boone; six grandchildren; and two brothers Edward and Harry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Jan. 2, 1985, two sons, four sisters and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 3, 1994)
