Killed by the Cars
Last Saturday Mrs. M.M. Kanpp received from Grand Island, Nebraska, a telegram stating that her brother, J.H. Randall had been run over by the cars and killed. The particulars of the sad affair told that Mr. Randall had occasion for a short distance on the rail road track in the city of Grand Island where he lived. In some unaccountable way he was run over by a locomotive which happened to be backing along the track. The remains were at once sent to Davenport, the former home of Mr. Randall, where the funeral took place Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Knapp and Mrs. Randall, the unfortunate young man’s mother, accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Forrest and Miss Maud Marston, left on Sunday evening in the special car for Davenport to attend the funeral and returned Wednesday morning.

The deceased was a prominent young attorney of Grand Island and he leaves a young wife [Lotta Curtis] to mourn his untimely death. His mother and sister in this city have the sympathy of their many friends here. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, August 2, 1894)

Attorney J.H. Randall was run over by a road engine and instantly killed at Grand Island, Neb. He leaves a wife and one child [Worth Randall]. Mr. Randall was the attorney for the Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Company. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, August 23, 1894)
