Emmetsburg – Services for Lawrence Sidles, 79, of Emmetsburg, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg with Pastor Dennis Angland officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery in Estherville. He died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1990 at the Ruthven Community Care Center.

Friends may call at the Beiter-Ascherl Funeral Home in Emmetsburg from 3-8 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

He was born Feb. 11, 1911 at Estherville, the son of John and Della (Tuttle) Sidles and attended Huntington School. On Sept. 15, 1936 he was united in marriage with Hellen Vanderheide at Estherville. The couple farmed in the Armstrong-Ringsted area until 1949 when they moved into Emmetsburg. He retired in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, David, Emmetsburg; one sister, Mrs. A.J. (Dorothy) Loftis, Estherville; and one brother, Earl of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, Dec. 17, 1989; parents; nine brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 22, 1990)
