Verna (Blow) Stripling
Estherville-Funeral services for Verna Mildred Stripling, 85 of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Monday December 29, 2003 at Murphy’s Guest Home in Indianola.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2004 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
Verna was born on April 4, 1918 on a farm near Armstrong. The daughter of George W. and Agnes (Burgess) Blow. She received her education in Armstrong schools and at Maple Hill Consolidated.
On March 28, 1934 she was united in marriage to Laurence W. A. Stripling in Algona. Following their marriage, the couple was engaged in farming.
Verna was also employed as a waitress before retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville and served on the Altar Guild and served in the Mary Ester Circle.
Verne is survived by her children, Marvin Stripling and his wife Brenda of Vacaville, Calif.; Carl Stripling and his wife Mary of Harrison township, Mich.; Sharon and her husband, Larry Lane and Connie Kiger and her husband, Ken all of Indianola; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Blow of New Port Richey, Fla.
She has been preceded in death by her husband, Laurence, parents, one daughter, on brother and two sisters.
