Estherville – Services for Elsie Meta Rick, 82, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church with Pastor Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Sunday, Sept. 9, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born Sept. 26, 1907 in Tanhassen Township, Martin County, Minn. the daughter of John and Dora (Masemann) Laue and attended the Wilbert, St. Paul’s Lutheran school and church. On Oct. 11, 1927 she married Herman Leiding at Ceylon, Minn. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Marti County before moving to a farm north of Maple Hill. She drove school bus for Maple Hill School several years. In 1946 they moved to Estherville. In 1948 she married Bernard Rick at Jackson, Minn. She worked in the Gardston Hotel, Majestic and Pauley’s cafes as cook and waitress a number of years and later cleaned house for a number of families.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary, Past President.

Survivors include four sons: Dr. W.D. Leiding, Albuquerque; Dr. James Leiding, Kunkletown, Pa.; Rick Nolan, Estherville and Richard Rick, Canto, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Phil (Ardella Jeanette) Still, San Diego; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Anna Mitchell, Estherville; Mrs. Arnold (Dorothy) Fritz, Ceylon, Minn. and Mrs. Clarence (Eleonor) Gellert, Fairmont, Minn.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 12, 1990)
