L.M. Rawlings
Estherville – Services for Leonard “L.M.” Rawlings, 87, will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Gospel Assembly Church in Estherville with the Rev. Ernest Gafkjen officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1993 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born March 24, 1905 at Wheatland, Neb. the son of John and Pearl (Curtis) Rawlings and attended Archer, Neb. school. He was united in marriage with Viola Mathis on June 20, 1928 at McCools, Neb. The couple ranched in the Sand Hills of Nebraska and in 1947 they moved to Iowa where they lived on a farm south of Gruver until moving into Estherville in 1987. He was a member of the Calvary Gospel Assembly Church.

Survivors include his wife, Viola, Estherville; daughter, Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Holmgren, Evansville, Minn.; eight grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Rawlings, Estherville; a brother, Cecil of Central City, Neb.; five sisters: Nita Watkins, Central City; Mrs. Wendell (Opal) Neel, Bancroft, Neb.; Mrs. Robert (Bethel) Hild, Cozad, Neb.; Mrs. Orville (Gertrude) Williams, North Platte, Neb. and Pauline Mapes, Sun City, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dale; his parents; one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 11, 1993)
