Estherville – Services for Richard L. [Louis] Olson, 54, Estherville, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Stan Eyberg officiating. Burial will be at the East Side Cemetery with full military graveside rites. He died Tuesday evening at his home.Friends may call at Henry & Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 4 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services at the church.
He lived in Estherville all of his life. He was born March 9, 1930, the son of Martin and Hannah (Johnson) Olson. He was educated in Estherville and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Darlene Dahna Feb. 16, 1956 in Jackson, Minn. He worked for Boggess Construction of Emmetsburg for 33 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3388.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, Estherville; two daughter, Rhonda Zufall and Renae Olson, both of Estherville; four sons, Robert, Bruce, Michael and Troy, all of Estherville; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Brooks, Forks, Wash., Ruth Elwell, Hamel, Minn., Hazel Wolle, Jamestown, N.D., Eleanor Cain, Estherville; and three brothers, Harold Olson, Estherville, Donald Olson, Estherville, Clarence Olson, Lennox, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Timothy; and grandson, Lawrence Robert Olson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 5, 1984)
