Phoenix – Richard Mouritsen, former Estherville resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1992 in a Phoenix hospital following a lingering illness. Services will be held at a later date. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 24, 1992)

Phoenix – Richard D. (Dick) Mouritsen, 62, of Phoenix did on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1992 at his home. He attended Estherville School where he graduated from High School in 1948. Following high school he attended Morningside College at Sioux City, later the University of Arizona.

He travelled with the Roger Wagner Choral from the east to the west coast and the following year received his Master’s Degree from ASU. He was associated with the Herberger Land Association for many years then was a teacher in the Paradise Valley School System. In late September 1992 he took his retirement due to ill health.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons and two daughters; four grandchildren and his parents Arnold and Ruth Mouritsen of Scottsdale, Ariz. also formerly of Estherville.

Memorial service was held in Phoenix. His cremains will be interred at East Side Cemetery at a later date. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 7, 1993)
